New Orleans 2008
So as I had mentioned, we took a trip down to New Orleans. Bethany had never been there, and it had been some time since I went there myself. So, we set out 6am on the 28th for the Big Easy. The drive was pretty uneventful, and Emma did just fine. We hit a bit of traffic on the I10 bridge, but otherwise no major problems. The following morning, we were off and running. First, we had to go to vital records to get our marriage license, then we had some lunch and at 3:30 we were on our way down the aisle. You read that right. Beth and I eloped while in New Orleans. We were married in a wonderful little chapel down in the French Quarter, complete with cake. The reverand and his wife were great, Beth looked wonderful, and I looked ok-ish for being in a tux. I’ll post a pic later on, but everything was just wonderful, and I now have a ring on my finger. :)
Saturday we were off to explore the French Quarter. We wandered up and down the streets, checking out the sights and just enjoying the city. It was a bit eerie to drive through some sections, seeing the FEMA trailers and piles of trash around, but for the most part the city seems to be recovering well. Sunday we went to the Zoo and the Aquarium, and agin, pics will follow. All in all, it was a great trip, we enjoyed ourselves, Emma did fine and I can now say that I no longer have a fiancee, but a wife.
Off to the Big Easy
We’re off to New Orleans for a few days. Last time I was there was back in 2000, of course prior to the hurricane. It will definitely be interesting to see how the city is rebuilding.
And 31 Creeps Up..
In only 2 weeks (or so) I turn 31. It’s not a big deal really, as my birthday is usually just another day in my mind. But, this year we’re going down to New Orleans. I’m sure there will be plenty of pics, and I haven’t been down there since 2000. Bethany has never been there, so it should be a lot of fun to explore the city with her and Emma. I can’t wait. :)
In geek news, I’ve abandoned my Myth rebuild attempt. The quality is ok, but on the big hi-def TV it looks pretty bad. With paying off some of the debt we had, I think we can afford to keep the Tivo around. What this means now is that I get to rip apart the old server (again) and move the 250GB drive back to the old Xbox. The old Xbox will once again become the media center, and the 1.4gHz P4 server will go back into the closet as a spare. The laptop is working out quite well, and I find that I’m using it a lot more than I am my desktop. The only time I turn on the desktop anymore is to update it or else play Team Fortress 2.
