@Patrick:

The job itself is usually good, there's just certain individuals that can grate on me at times. I tend to ignore them, but I just had to get a rant out :)

Wow. That just sucks. I'd try to line up another job working with more tolerant (and probably smarter) people.

Ahh, yes. Well, at least about the last part, tell them that they shouldn't be discussing Obama nor Jesus at work. Most work places have that codified somewhere, too; if you can find it, all the better. Religion and politics are two rather no-no topics in the workplace, I have found, because they are the things that people start physical fights over the most.

I can totally understand the person that walks by and says "be happy." I used to work in a fairly dense cube environment, and most of the people there didn't seem to care about anything other than getting tickets in. Of course, this frustrated me, because often they were incomplete, improperly entered, or whatever. One day while I was ranting (on mute) while a customer was ranting at me, someone passed by and said something along those lines. Wouldn't you know, it was the very someone that filled the stupid ticket in wrong in the first place... making the customer mad and making me deal with it. :-/
