Shall we play a game?
Beth and I watched the classic WarGames the other day, as she hadn’t seen the whole thing thorugh and it had been a while since I saw it. That movie always brings back the memories for me. Nothing like direct-dialing another computer via the ole phone line, the age of BBSes. Speaking of BBSes, I ran one myself back in the day on my Intel 486SX/25mHz with a whopping 100MB hard drive. I ran the board using Renegade, and then Telegard software under Windows 3.1, had a couple of callers and of course there was the inter-BBS message networks. Fidonet was the most well known of those, but I was also involved in some other local ones as well.
Good stuff indeed. I just wonder whatever happened to Legend of the Red Dragon and Barren Realms Elite, two of my favorite BBS door games.

WarGames gets my vote for best hacking film of all time. Absolutely uncontested; no other film has as many working hacks (when made) depicted….
